UAW escalates strike but with an exception

GM and Stellantis are to be pressured while Ford is to be left alone as they seem “serious about reaching a deal”.

On Friday, September 22nd, UAW President Shawn Fain revealed that the United Auto Workers (UAW) is escalating its strike actions, extending them to encompass 38 parts and distribution facilities located in 20 different states. The primary focus of these strikes is directed towards two major automotive giants, General Motors and Stellantis.

However, it is worth noting that the UAW has opted not to instigate any further strikes at Ford Motor. Fain conveyed that this decision is influenced by Ford’s demonstrated commitment to earnest negotiations, emphasizing that the company has exhibited a genuine intent to reach a mutually agreeable deal. This statement was made by Fain during a live broadcast on Facebook.
