During a break in the trial, he stated, “Yes, I will testify at the trial when the time is right.” Trump denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the case was a “scam” because financial statements included disclaimers advising individuals to conduct their own due diligence.
Judge Arthur Engoron clarified that statutes of limitations do not bar evidence but rather claims in the lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that Trump and his businesses consistently misrepresented his wealth on financial statements given to various entities. Trump’s legal team argues that the statute of limitations restricts most of the case.
The trial, which focuses on six remaining claims, aims to determine potential penalties, with James seeking $250 million and a business ban on Trump in New York.
