A survey by Daily Mail, inquiring about opinions on Osama Bin Laden, reveals that 81 percent of respondents hold a negative view of the notorious figure linked to the 9/11 attacks. Of these, 76 percent express a wholly negative perspective. Only 8 percent view Bin Laden positively, with 4 percent having an entirely positive outlook. Age demographics significantly influence these attitudes, as 20 percent of those aged 18-29 show some level of positivity towards Bin Laden. Among them, 8 percent have a completely positive view, contrasting with 52 percent who hold at least a somewhat negative view. The trend continues to decline with age, with 14 percent of those aged 30-49 expressing some positivity.
Interestingly, the findings highlight a concerning disconnect, especially among young Americans on platforms like TikTok, where Bin Laden’s 2002 letter justifying the 9/11 attacks resurfaces. Some users attempt to offer a sympathetic reading, drawing parallels with perceived American wrongdoing. The survey outcomes are attributed to the influence of anti-American rhetoric prevalent among the younger demographic.
