Meanwhile in Ukraine: Iran’s two-front war from the shadows

In a true BRICS manner, Russia attacks Ukraine using Iranian drones

On Monday, October 10th, the British Ministry of Defence reported Russian forces have escalated their use of Iranian drones in operations against Ukraine. These drones have become a crucial element of Russia’s strategy for long-range strikes in Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat anticipates a surge in Russian drone attacks during the upcoming winter, with over 500 Iranian-made drones already used in September alone. Ukraine needs effective countermeasures if it wishes to achieve anything in this war.

Last year, Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure led to severe power shortages. Unless some dramatic change of Russian plans occurs, this is about to happen again this winter. The British defense ministry’s assessment indicates a strengthening partnership between Russia and Iran, with Iran providing substantial military aid, including drones and munitions. This collaboration has expanded to include drone assembly and production under license in Russia. The situation underscores the evolving dynamics and challenges in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the fact Iran and Russia can orchestrate multiple wars at once.
