Israel attacks South Gaza

Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has extended across the entire Gaza Strip, according to military statements on Sunday, December 3rd. The military announced additional evacuation orders and pledged to strike south Gaza with a force comparable to the ongoing conflict that has severely affected northern Gaza. Following the evacuation directives, intense bombardment occurred, leaving Palestinians in the sealed-off region with limited options for shelter. Amid the conflict, many of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents had previously moved south in response to Israel’s initial orders to evacuate the northern areas, prompted by the Hamas-led attack on October 7 that resulted in around 1,200 casualties, mostly civilians.

This expansion of the Israeli attack is intended to make up for the days of the truce.

In Deir al-Balah, gunfire and shelling were reported after dark, accompanied by flares lighting up the sky. Israeli drones were observed flying over Khan Younis, Gaza’s second-largest city. Volker Türk, the U.N. human rights chief, called for an end to the war, emphasizing the unbearable civilian suffering.
