Iran and human rights

We can put them in the same sentence, according to UN

Iran, known as the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, is set to assume the chairmanship of the U.N. Human Rights Council Social Forum in 2023. This comes just a month after its ally Hamas carried out severe acts of violence against Israeli civilians. UN Watch, an organization monitoring the United Nations, had previously highlighted Iran’s appointment to this role in May. The forum’s 2023 theme revolves around the use of technology to promote human rights. Notably, just days before Iran was granted the chairmanship, it executed two individuals for discussing human rights issues related to Islam on social media. Subsequently, Iran is scheduled to take on this leadership role while its proxy, Hamas, committed heinous acts including rape, torture, murder, and kidnapping of over 1,400 Israeli civilians.

In summary, Iran, despite its questionable human rights record and involvement with Hamas, will be leading the U.N. Human Rights Council Social Forum in 2023, focusing on technology and human rights promotion. This move has raised concerns and criticisms from various quarters.
