How to create jobs for gender-studies alumni

In light of recent advancement in AI, there are growing concerns among experts regarding the possibility of an AI gender gap if women’s involvement in its development and dataset analysis remains limited. In a recent discussion about this important topic, Melinda French Gates expressed her apprehension about what described as “the insufficient representation of women in the artificial intelligence field”. She emphasized that this lack of diversity raises worries about potential biases within AI platforms, describing a “twofold” problem:

– Firstly, the need for more women to contribute to the guidance and development of AI platforms. As a counter-example, Gates mentioned nursing as a woman – dominated field, ignoring the important detail that no man who wants to become a nurse has even complained about “gender bias”. It’s affirmative action all over again…

– Secondly, the recognition that existing datasets used to inform and train AI already contain inherent biases. To locate and eliminate such “biases”, an “expert” is probably “required”… Are you still wondering how all these gender studies alumni will get a job?
