Hawaii on fire for four days now

In Canada, in California, even in Europe, wildfires is a quick and easy way to ignore all regulation and property rights and go fast-track with your plans in the name of “reconstruction”, totally neglecting the local “deplorables” and their precious environment. It’s not climate change. It’s cronyism.

Fueled by distant hurricane winds, wildfires have claimed fifty lives and caused extensive destruction in Lahaina, a Maui island resort city, since Tuesday, August 8th. Thousands were forced to evacuate, with some seeking refuge in the ocean from the smoke and flames. Multiple neighborhoods were razed, isolating the island’s western side, leaving only one accessible highway. Reports highlight the widespread devastation inflicted on Lahaina, its harbor, and nearby regions.

As Maui battles destructive wildfires, local Hawaiians seek aid from island residents like Jeff Bezos, Oprah, Mick Fleetwood, and Larry Ellison, among other prominent figures, who own homes there:

From Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’s fiancee…
… to Jason Momoa on Instagram…
… to Oprah Winfrey, who owns 2000 acres in Maui.
