Government-funded pharmaceutical companies, beware

Governments create a lot of monopolies and of course they want something back.

The Biden administration is issuing a caution to pharmaceutical companies, indicating that if the cost of specific medications is deemed excessively high, the government could revoke their patent protection, enabling competitors to produce generic versions. A plan unveiled on Thursday outlines the government’s willingness to override patents for expensive drugs developed with taxpayer funding, allowing alternative manufacturers to produce them, with the aim of reducing prices. President Joe Biden, in a YouTube Short on Wednesday night, December 6th, assured that this initiative would lead to a reduction in “price gouging”.
