Federal land is not to be used to cover for state failures!

The House passed the “Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act” in a 224-203 vote, preventing President Biden from utilizing federal lands, especially in New York, as migrant camps for released illegal aliens.

A few weeks ago, State of New York denounced “right to shelter” for migrants because migrant influx started to strain the facilities of New York City. Biden Administration wanted the federal government to pay for this failure by giving away federal land so migrant camps could be built. On Thursday, November 30th, the House stopped that. Only six Democrats joined House Republicans in supporting the legislation. Introduced by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, the bill aims to prohibit the government from using federal lands for housing illegal aliens.

Rep. Malliotakis has Greek heritage and Greeks know inviting migrants and then putting them in camps is not the best solution.

The move comes as New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams secured approval to relocate border crossers and illegal aliens to Floyd Bennett Field. Malliotakis criticized the transformation of federal parks into migrant encampments, emphasizing the burden on taxpayers and surrounding communities. The historic airfield, formerly used by the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy in World War II, is now at risk of being repurposed for housing migrants. The Biden administration, opposing the legislation, argued that it would restrict the powers of the Department of the Interior and Agriculture.

Notably, an unprecedented number of over 60,000 illegal aliens are being released into American communities monthly, totaling more than 720,000 in a year, according to the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General.
