Fan dies at Taylor Swift concert

The popular singer is making a tour around the world – The tragic incident took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

A tragic incident occurred at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night, November 17th. A 23-year-old fan named Ana Clara Benevides Machado lost her life, as reported by the concert organizers in Brazil. The news prompted a strong reaction from both Swift’s fan base, known as Swifties, and political figures. The cause of Ana Clara Benevides Machado’s death has not been officially disclosed. Nevertheless, there were complaints from fans about not being permitted to bring water into the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium, despite the high temperatures.

In response to the incident, a collective initiated an online petition on Saturday morning, advocating for a “Benevides Law” that would mandate the provision of water at events. Remarkably, the petition quickly gained over 150,000 signatures. In a swift response, Brazilian federal authorities declared that complimentary water would be provided at all upcoming concerts to prevent similar incidents.
