In the wake of a recent military offensive that placed the enclave back under Azerbaijani control, thousands of ethnic Armenians have embarked on a journey to flee the region. They are making their way across the border into Armenia, where they seek refuge from the conflict. The ethnic Armenian leadership has pledged to maintain its presence in the region until all those who desire to leave have had the opportunity to do so.

Gegham Stepanyan, the human rights ombudsman, has reported that a significant portion of the casualties sustained in the explosion are in critical condition, with many categorized as “severe or extremely severe” cases. A Russian peacekeeping unit deployed in the area has confirmed that some of the wounded have already received medical attention from their personnel, and the most seriously injured individuals have been transferred to the unit’s hospital facility.
