This shift in the Earth’s tilt is not only noticeable beneath the surface but also has observable effects on the planet’s surface. It contributes to the overall rise in global sea levels, as highlighted by the researchers in the study published on June 15 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. The study’s lead author, Ki-Weon Seo, a professor at Seoul National University in South Korea, explains that the Earth’s rotational pole experiences significant changes, and the research indicates that the redistribution of groundwater has the most substantial impact on the drift of the rotational pole.
