Biden’s Veterans Day Confusion Sparks Online Mockery

Social media mocks Biden for appearing confused at Veterans Day memorial ceremony; critics call it embarrassing and question his capability.

Social media users expressed shock and mockery in response to a video clip featuring President Biden seemingly forgetting his role at the official Veterans Day memorial at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday.

Critics, including X users, lambasted Biden for freezing during the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, necessitating direction from U.S. service members overseeing the solemn event. One individual described the incident as “so embarrassing.” The footage captured Biden placing the wreath in front of the Tomb while Vice President Kamala Harris, representatives of the U.S. Armed Forces, and a sizable crowd of civilian guests observed.

After receiving the wreath from a U.S. Army service member, Biden transferred it to the stand in front of the tomb. However, as he turned away, he appeared uncertain about his next move, prompting him to face the service member. Biden waited for a signal or cue, with the service member directing him to return to line up next to the vice president for the remainder of the ceremony.

Social media users, particularly those from the RNC Research account, shared a clip of the awkward sequence, captioning it “Biden gets confused (again).” Tyler Zed, a podcast host and YouTuber, remarked that adversaries must be “shaking in their boots,” while talk radio host Michael Brown criticized Biden’s handlers for allowing him to appear confused at such a solemn occasion.

GOP Rapid Response Director Jake Schneider joined the criticism, describing the situation as “embarrassing” and humorously referencing Biden as “Joe Roomba” in a nod to comedian Shane Gillis’ earlier comparison of Biden’s movements to that of a self-guided robot vacuum.
