Biden’s Border Controversy: Razor Wire Removal Sparks Outrage

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has accused the Biden administration of removing razor wire that Texas had installed in Eagle Pass to prevent illegal crossings at the Southern border. This statement comes amid ongoing tensions between Texas officials and the White House over the migrant crisis.

Governor Abbott expressed his concerns on X (formerly known as Twitter), stating that the removal of razor wire had potentially opened the door to increased illegal immigration. In response, he deployed additional Texas National Guard personnel to deter illegal crossings and reinforce the razor wire barriers.

Governor Abbott also highlighted a letter he had sent to President Biden in November, emphasizing that the President’s policies had contributed to what he called an “invasion at our border.” Texas has been actively working on building a border wall, installing razor wire, and implementing marine barriers as part of its Operation Lone Star initiative.

Earlier, the Department of Justice (DOJ) had filed a lawsuit against Texas for installing a buoy barrier on the Rio Grande, designed to curb illegal immigration. The DOJ argued that this barrier obstructed navigable waters and raised concerns related to humanitarian, environmental, and public safety. While a federal judge initially ordered Texas to relocate the buoys, the U.S. Court of Appeals later stayed that decision, and the case remains under deliberation in the courts.
