On Sunday, December 10th, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged Hamas fighters to give up, proclaiming it as the “beginning of the end” for the islamist militant group. Netanyahu, in a televised statement in Hebrew, reported that numerous Hamas members had surrendered to Israeli forces, relinquishing their weapons to Israeli soldiers. Despite acknowledging that the conflict was ongoing, Netanyahu asserted that it marked the initiation of the demise of Hamas. Netanyahu also directly addressed Hamas fighters, stating that their cause was finished and urged them to surrender immediately.
Video footage circulating online depicted numerous detainees, stripped down to their underwear, with their hands raised. Some held assault rifles above their heads, and one individual approached, placing a firearm on the ground.
