Antisemitism on TikTok?

Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok is reportedly fostering a hostile and antisemitic work environment, according to Jewish and Israeli employees. These employees claim to have faced harassment, personal attacks, and even boycotts following a terrorist attack by the Palestinian group Hamas against Israel. Allegedly, antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments are openly expressed on TikTok’s internal chat system, Lark, without adequate support from senior management.

Jewish employees assert that TikTok allows antisemitic and anti-Israel content, as well as false claims, to persist on the platform due to the biases of its 40,000 moderators. The company allegedly advised employees to use an existing Jewish support group, rather than creating a new one for Israelis, citing political reasons. Screenshots from Lark obtained by Fox Business suggest a growing sense of fear among Jewish employees. TikTok’s spokesperson, however, maintains that the reported experiences do not reflect the majority and that the platform has strong policies against discrimination.

This isn’t the first time TikTok has faced criticism for hosting content sympathetic to terrorists. Recently, the platform witnessed young Americans expressing support for Osama bin Laden amid debates on the Israel-Hamas conflict, circulating the terrorist leader’s 2002 letter justifying the September 11, 2001 attacks.
