Fetterman Calls for Menendez’s Expulsion Over Bribery

“Fetterman urges Menendez expulsion over serious bribery allegations on ‘The View’.”

Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, expressed his call for Senator Bob Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, to be expelled from the U.S. Senate during an appearance on ABC’s “The View.” Fetterman humorously remarked that Menendez seemed more like a “Senator from Egypt” than representing New Jersey. This came in the wake of the recent expulsion of Representative George Santos, a Democrat from New York, from the House of Representatives due to federal charges related to a bribery scheme.

During the show, co-host Joy Behar brought up Santos’ expulsion, which occurred shortly before the airing. She asked Fetterman for his response, to which he expressed no surprise. Fetterman emphasized the need to discuss Menendez’s case, asserting that Menendez had engaged in more serious wrongdoing compared to Santos.

Fetterman highlighted the contrast between Santos’ seemingly frivolous lies and Menendez’s involvement in alleged bribery activities benefiting Egypt. The senator accused Menendez of engaging in sinister actions and emphasized the disparity in treatment between the two cases, advocating for Menendez’s expulsion from the Senate.

Federal prosecutors had charged Menendez with accepting significant bribes from three businessmen in exchange for leveraging his authority to benefit Egypt and enrich themselves. Fetterman joined other Senate Democrats in urging Menendez to resign, underlining the inconsistency in allowing Menendez to retain his Senate seat while Santos faced expulsion from the House.

In his remarks on “The View,” Fetterman emphasized the discrepancy in holding Santos to account while seemingly overlooking Menendez’s alleged involvement in more significant and disturbing activities.
