It is inevitable: Government shuts down on Sunday, October 1st

Will the Democrats learn this time that they can’t just ignore fiscal responsibility? Everything points to “hahaha no”

It’s almost official: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy doesn’t have enough support to pass his proposal for a temporary spending bill, making an imminent government shutdown likely. McCarthy plans to introduce a bill on Friday, September 29th, combining a stopgap funding measure, spending reductions, a comprehensive GOP border bill and maybe a little help to our latest favorite, Ukraine. Despite his efforts and pleas from his allies in a closed-door meeting today, a sufficient number of House conservatives are against the “continuing resolution,” preventing its approval.

It’s not great, it’s not terrible: government shutdowns have taken place before.

The hard-liners who are going to hold the line are at least the following: Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Eli Crane (Ariz.), Cory Mills (Fla.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Tim Burchett (Tenn.), Andy Ogles (Tenn.), and Wesley Hunt (Texas).
