Rapper MHD Gets 12-Year Jail Term for Murder!

French rapper MHD, also known as Mohamed Sylla, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in the 2018 murder of Loic K in Paris. The 29-year-old musician was found guilty by a Paris court of being part of a gang-related killing.

The tragic incident unfolded when Loic K, aged 23, was struck by MHD’s Mercedes and subsequently attacked by a group of around 12 individuals, resulting in his death. Despite the severity of the charges, MHD, recognized for his fusion of trap and West African music known as “Afro trap,” consistently maintained his innocence throughout the trial.

During the court proceedings, MHD stated, “From the beginning, I have maintained my innocence in this case and I will continue to maintain my innocence,” as reported by AFP news agency. He argued that the case against him relied on hearsay and rumors, asserting that he was not present at the scene of the murder.

However, crucial evidence emerged during the trial. A local resident had captured the incident on video from his window, and MHD’s involvement was quickly confirmed when the car involved was identified as belonging to him. Additionally, witnesses positively identified him based on his distinctive haircut and clothing.

In addition to MHD’s sentence, five of his co-defendants were handed prison terms ranging from 10 to 18 years. Three others were acquitted of all charges. It remains uncertain whether those sentenced to jail plan to appeal their verdicts.

MHD, renowned for his significant presence on social media, initially worked as a pizza delivery driver in Paris before embarking on a successful career in music.
