The financial disclosures cover his finances up to his departure at the end of the previous year. The documents indicate that Fauci and his wife’s net worth had grown by nearly $2 million since before the COVID-19 pandemic, although they experienced a slight dip in net worth from 2021 to 2022.
Adam Andrzejewski, CEO of OpenTheBooks, noted that during the pandemic years, the Faucis’ household net worth exceeded $10 million, with Fauci being the highest-paid federal employee before his retirement in December 2022, earning $480,654, surpassing the President’s salary of $400,000. In retirement, Fauci is estimated to be collecting a federal pension that rivals a presidential salary, making it the largest federal retirement package in history.
The financial disclosures indicate that the Faucis’ net worth increased from approximately $9.54 million in 2019 to $11.5 million by the end of 2022. This growth can be attributed to investment gains, awards, compensation, and royalties. However, they did experience a $1.1 million decline in net worth from 2021 to 2022, reporting a combined net worth of $12.6 million in 2021.
Fauci has diversified his assets across trust funds, retirement accounts, and college education accounts, with investments primarily in mutual funds and no documented holdings of individual stocks. By the end of 2022, Fauci’s account balance stood at $9.25 million, while his wife, Christine Grady, the National Institutes of Health’s chief bioethicist, contributed around $2.2 million.
Fauci’s compensation also increased by nearly $25,000 between 2021 and 2022, maintaining his status as the highest-paid federal employee, receiving over President Biden. In 2022, Fauci earned approximately $481,000, up from $456,000 in 2021.
Fox News Digital reached out to Grady’s government email account for comment on their net worth but did not receive a response.
Since stepping down in December, Fauci has joined Georgetown University as a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine within the Division of Infectious Diseases. He also holds an appointment in the university’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
Fauci’s tenure during the pandemic was marked by controversy, with some viewing him as a polarizing figure.
